Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero was an American model and singer. Kotero was also co-starring with Prince in his 1984 film Purple Rain. Kotero was the female lead vocalist in Apollonia 6 and co-starred in Prince's film Purple Rain from 1984. The 1980s saw the singer-actress Prince named Apollonia to be one of the many female performers who gained from working with him. Patricia Kotero was born in Santa Monica in California in 1959. Her career started as a model during the 1970s. Also, she appeared on CHiPS. In 1984, the actress was a part of the main actress in Prince's Purple Rain. (During this time period, she also changed her surname) Her replacement was Vanity as a member of the female trio Vanity 6 who starred in the film alongside Apollonia 6 under their name. They scored a small hit with Sex Shooter but it was in the role of Prince's duet partner in Take Me with You from the soundtrack that she made a greater chart impact. Kotero's relationship with Prince ended when the pair were at odds over the direction she was taking in her career. Apollonia 6, the group that she belonged to was ended up splitting. The actress appeared in several small films, including Purple Rain's sequel Under the Cherry Moon (which she did not want to be in), and then landed the role of Falcon Crest on the Night-Time drama Falcon Crest from 1985-1986. Apollonia was finally able to release her debut album in 1988, but her comparatively tame collection of dance and R&B songs did not impress the music-buying public and the album soon vanished off the shelves. The singer was still active, though not in the limelight, as an actress during the decade, albeit with minor appearances in films and on television. An exercise DVD was made available. Apollonia released a CD in Spanish and English called Stay with Me in 1997. After returning to school, she and received a degree in filmmaking. She then formed her firm and began working in children's TV. Apollonia has many hats. Apollonia Kotero is an actress as well as model, and a former singer.
